The BRT's current Working Party 1 (WP1) addresses "Trade Relations; Investment and Regulatory Cooperation; Financial Services, Accounting and Taxation" issues and prepares recommendations to the Government of Japan and to the EU Authorities on these topics.

WP1 was created in time for the 2016 annual meeting by the merger of two working parties - one focussing on Trade Relations; Investment and Regulatory Cooperation and the other one focussing on Financial Services, Accounting and Taxation issues. Over the years the exact title of the working parties have evolved to reflect their changing remit.
