JTPP HELPDESK THEMATIC REPORT ON Research & Development now available!

space

(APRIL 4, 2020) In the 6th Thematic Report, JTPP Helpdesk looks more closely  at the public procurement activities of Japanese government organizations related to research and development (R&D).

Japan remains one of the top countries in the world in terms of expenditures on Research & Development. Although close to three-quarters of R&D expenditures are made in the private sector, a large number of Japanese government organizations is active in a wide range of scientific fields. As this concerns the public funds, purchases of R&D equipment and services need to be conducted using procedures that allow public scrutiny. In the 22-page Report we look at which research organizations are covered by international agreements on government procurement, such as the WTO Agreement on Public Procurement (GPA) and the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and provide an overview of their procurement activities.

The Report is currently available for subscribers to the JTPP Helpdesk Thematic Reports Mailing List.

For a first glance of the Report, read the introduction here. It is also possible to request a full copy of the report there.

For those with further questions about the Report a free 'Consultancy Hour' Q&A session will be organised later this month.
