Internships at the EU-Japan Centre :
  • In Tokyo office:

There is currently no open internship offer.

  • In Brussels office:

Internship quota for the year FY2024 has been reached. Interested students are free to apply for the month of April 2025 onwards.

Are you a student interested by the Japanese industrial sector and the economic relations between the EU and Japan? Do you wish to gain professional experience in an international environment and possibly jumpstart your European career?

Throughout the year, the Brussels office of the EU-Japan Centre is hosting students wishing to conduct an internship in the framework of their university program.

Whether you are a bachelor or master student, you may have to conduct a compulsory internship as part of your university program (ECTS-rewarded internship), or you might have the chance to undertake a voluntary internship with an university contract. Conditions for such internships depend on the country and institution you come from, so please consult with your faculty for further details. Please note that such compulsory or voluntary internship cannot exceed a period of 4 months. You must be enrolled in a EU-based university.

Tasks: Within the framework of the internship, the intern will primarily be focusing on research (covering industrial sectors and cultural aspects of Japan) as a way to update our website content. Besides that, other tasks might be requested upon needs based on the intern's skills and interests.

Requirements:

  • An advanced English level (at least C1)
  • Upper-intermediate Japanese level (at least N3, preferably N2)
  • A keen interest in Japanese culture, industrial sectors, and EU-Japan relations.

Note: this internship is unpaid. A stipend covering expenses (10 euros per day of internship) will be provided.

The internship is to be done on a remote-working basis. If you are available in Brussels and wish to be present at the office, please consult the internship supervisor (contact details below).

The EU-Japan Centre does not provide support to obtain visa.

Interested? Please send your CV and motivation letter (including the preferred internship's length and starting date) to Ms. Sofia Smerzi at s.smerzi(at)eu-japan.eu. Candidacies are taken on a rolling basis.
