EU-Japan Digital Partnership Seminar
Towards a New Dimension of EU-Japan Digital Partnership
Wednesday 15 October 2025 17:00-18:30/18:30-20:00 networking reception
(With simultaneous interpretation, free hybrid event)
Co-hosted by:Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) and EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation (EUJC)
Japan and the EU agreed on the “EU-Japan Digital Partnership” at the 2022 Summit and have since been strengthening cooperation to advance the contribution of digital technologies to society and the economy.
At the ministerial-level meeting in May of this year, both sides agreed to cooperate in areas such as research and innovation, the development of digital governance, and the enhancement of resilience in critical technologies. The significance of the “EU-Japan Digital Partnership” was also explicitly affirmed in the “EU-Japan Competitiveness Partnership” established at the EU-Japan Summit in July 2025.
The digital industries in Japan and in the EU drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as semiconductors, AI, and 5G/6G. They contribute to society and promote economic growth by generating value through a data-driven approach across supply chain operations. However, in the face of growing global uncertainties, our industries now face challenges such as impacts on trade in goods, cross-border data flows, cybersecurity and concerns over a slowdown in global economic growth.
In this seminar, we will deepen dialogue between the public and private sectors of Japan and the EU on the future direction the “Japan-EU Digital Partnership” should pursue toward a prosperous and sustainable future.
