“About Japan” Cross-cultural workshop in Riga on 13 September 2016, was organised by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, the local EEN-partner, in order to provide the support for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Latvia to enter the Japanese market.
The aim of the workshop, within Enterprise Europe Network framework, was to improve SMEs’ knowledge about cross-cultural issues when doing business in Japan and to help increase their capacities in communicating with potential business partners. During the workshop, the Centre had the opportunity to present its EC-funded support activities, including managerial training courses, matchmaking missions to Japan for clusters and SMEs, student placement programmes, and its information portal (www.eubusinessinjapan.eu) containing a lot of practical information on how to do business with Japan.
The Centre hopes that by attending this workshop SMEs from Latvia took a small, but important step towards expanding into the Japanese market and developing a trusted business relationship with Japanese counterparts.
