The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is organising its first Defence Business Mission from May 20-23, 2025 to coincide with DSEI Japan 2025 to provide EU SMEs a unique opportunity to develop ties with their Japanese peers and defense circles.
DSEI Japan is a bi-annual conference and exhibition connecting the global defence and security sector together with the entire Japanese and wider Asian defence community to innovate, partner and share knowledge under one roof.
Spurred by growing assertiveness of China in East Asian waters and rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, Japan has steadily increased its defence budgets in recent years, with the Ministry of Defense seeking a record-breaking $58bn budget for fiscal 2025. Although Japan remains closely tied to US defence, it has also broadened its cooperation with various European countries in recent years, such as in the development of a next-gen fighter with Italy and the UK, as geo-political uncertainties have grown.
The call for applications is open to EU SMEs with a proven track record in track-record in providing solutions to the defence forces and industry.
