Tokens offer a functionality other than and beyond that of a general-purpose medium of exchange. Cryptocurrencies and tokens are issued in the framework of Initial Coin Offering (ICO) and Initial Token Offering (ITO) respectively. This factsheet titled "Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Tokens" takes a close look at this sector and its regulatory landscape in Japan, and focuses on the impact the EU-Japan EPA has on this sector.
