About the Report
Japan is actively addressing the contamination of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in its water, air, soil and broader environment, with a ban of 138 PFAS (PFOA-related substances) taking effect on 10th January 2025. Japan’s regulatory shift to safer and more sustainable alternatives presents strategic business opportunities for European companies to develop and offer PFAS-free technologies. This strengthens their position in the growing market for chemical safety solutions and environmentally sustainable industrial practices. This report explores the recent market and technology trends in Japan’s chemical industry, with a focus on PFAS, highlighting opportunities and recommendations for European companies doing business in Japan or planning to enter the Japanese market.
